December 2006 Photo of the Month
This month's photo features the Statler Hotel in Detroit Michigan. This photo is dated October 26, 1916 and is a real photo postcard of this lost structure. Opened in February, 1915 and one of many Statler Hotels, the Detroit Statler was torn down in 2005 to make way for a parking lot.
The detail on the roof line and along the first floor is impressive. Located at the corner of Park, Washington and Bagley Streets, this hotel sat vacant since 1975.
Much more information may be found on this interesting building at Forgotten Detroit.
Below you will see a closeup of the rear entrance, including horse drawn carriages right out on Bagley Street!
